"RENEGADE MASTER"

The song I chose to use is titled "Renegade Master" mixed by Fat Boy Slim. While Fat Boy Slim is representative of current musical trends, this song would and would not be an adequate identity for American mass media. This song is one with "underground" influence, though not necessarily of an ethnic character. The American world identity in its present form transcends multiple scopes of the musical melody, and classifies them as such. These various visages compose the mass media culture as it is denoted in the current year of 2002. I equivocate this song first by clarifying that "Renegade Master" does not have definite outlines upon which an analysis of social values can be found, leading one to imagine that at present morals and principles are somewhat askew, scratched, and scrambled in hard rhythms. By such a review one would not be far from the truth. After the age of the disco ball, the eighties came and nothing was ever the same. The eighties was the rage of punk rock, promoting anarchy and green mohawks, and the other side of this coin was the birth of hip-hop and rap. These pervasive impressions are the roots of mass media culture, lending itself to a limitless expression of the human spirit, mixed with the extremities of the musical spectrum. Society allows Music Television to dictate its trends, trends which evolve from has been subcultures of forgotten years. This colossal structure which America has become associated with exceeds borderlines and language barriers. The pervasive images reach around the world, but of course in a watered down format. "Renegade Master" displays this transcending manner, and preaches in subtle terms, the chaos of the present, the quest for adventure which rules many individuals, and the blurred lines of social order. Though its popularity wanes in comparison to Fat Boy Slim's other compositions, "Renegade Master" still possesses mass appeal with sub-cultural connections and direction.
